A chamfer is a bevelled edge of 45 degrees, cut into the material using a chamfer tool bit or deburring tool. A chamfer can be used to smooth sharp or hazardous edges on a workpiece. Chamfering a workpiece prevents material from breaking or tearing away from the workpiece edge. Chamfering : chamfering removes the burrs and sharp edges, and thus makes the handling safe. Chamfering can be done by a form tool having angle equal to chamfer which is generally kept at 45°.
